Kim Mayfield, an accomplished interior designer, needed help transforming her second home, which serves as a rental during the off-season. She envisioned a minimalist, Scandinavian style with hints of Danish design—stark, moody, and high-end.
The challenge was to infuse the new build with personality and unique touches that would attract bookings while meeting her sophisticated taste.
Designing a second home requires balancing personal style with functional considerations, as the space is not just an investment but also a retreat. We seamlessly integrated Kim’s preferences into the design. The hand-painted mural by her colleague added depth and personality, becoming a focal point of the home. To complement this artistic touch, we chose a dining light with curves that echoed the mural’s jellyfish, creating a cohesive and inviting space.
Kim loves the final design, particularly the living room with its perfect blend of beachy elements and Scandinavian minimalism.
“Working with Melody and her team on our beach house was an absolute pleasure. She fully captured my unique aesthetic that transformed our house into a serene, stylish retreat. Her exceptional sourcing and meticulous detail perfectly blended comfort with polished elegance. Look no further – Melody and Joseph Ellen Designs is all you need.”
